The speaker grille and replaceable battery cover are on the back. The Pro’s rugged plastic casing is durable. The tracker has an IP67 rating, which means you can submerge it in just over a meter of water for 30 minutes without any damage. The tracker won’t bend, and thanks to the metal frame, you won’t have to worry about the key ring hole cracking over time. According to Tile, the Pro’s battery lasts for about a year. Tile is a great alternative for Android users or for iOS users who don’t want to be trapped in Apple’s “walled garden.” Setup is simple. Download the Tile app, create an account, and follow a few prompts to change the settings on your phone. Then, on the main app screen, simply tap Add Tile and press the button on the front of the Pro. The pairing process only takes a few seconds. Once your Pro is added to the app, you can customize its icon, name, and ringtone. The app seems a bit outdated, and if you have multiple tile trackers, you’ll have to scroll down the screen to find them all. This isn’t a big deal, but it would be nice if Tile made the app a little more user-friendly. Each Tile tracker comes with a variety of features that you can upgrade to with a premium subscription. It includes an annual battery replacement, access to 30 days of location history, unlimited location sharing, and premium customer service. It also unlocks the Smart Alerts feature, which sends a notification to your phone if you forget to bring the item attached to the Pro. To sign up, you must provide XCover, Tile’s refund partner, with details about the item and a picture of the device connected to the tracker. You’re eligible for a refund after you’ve been enrolled for a month and the device has been missing for seven days. There are a few restrictions, so read the terms carefully. Like all Tile models, the Pro is a two-way tracker: you can use the app on your phone to find your misplaced device, or press the Tile button twice to find your phone. If you choose the latter, you’ll hear the alarm on your phone even if it’s set to silent. Devices like smart speakers can also ping your lost items if you set up the feature in advance. You can even use a Comcast Xfinity Voice remote to find your lost items. Unfortunately, there is no longer an option on the Tile website to check the location of your tracker.
