Guide: Sync Sessions in Chrome and Firefox with TabCloud

Cloud services make our lives so easy these days. We can store our files in the cloud and then access them on any of our devices or even public computers to continue our work where we left off. These services aren’t limited to just files – people who use online sync services in their browsers know what I’m talking about. Chrome, Firefox or any other modern browser allows the user to sync their bookmarks, history and even passwords with all connected devices, making our life easier. Image via Shutterstock Your browser and history may be available on all of your connected devices for you to access manually up the tabs you need to work on. But why is it manual work to reopen all sessions? You are a Guiding Tech reader, you can do better. Today we’ll be taking a look at a service called TabCloud that instantly syncs your browser’s entire session (all open tabs) so that you can access it in exactly the same way on all your connected devices. Why now? I got the idea when I started using Google Chromebook to mobilize my work. I was looking for a way to get all my tabs and work that I was doing in sync and then I found TabCloud. Let’s take a look at how to use the service.

Using TabCloud to sync open browser tabs

TabCloud apps are available for Chrome, Firefox, Android. I use the Chrome app for the initial setup, but you are free to choose your own platform. After installing the app from the Web Store and clicking the TabCloud icon for the first time, you will be prompted to sign in with a Google account. The app does not request any special permissions from your account. It only uses it to remember what you sync with its servers.

Once authentication is complete, you can tap the TabCloud icon in the browser and select the tabs you want to save. If you have more than one window open, you will see them as separate sessions. There will also be some tabs from your browser history the last time you opened it. Now all you have to do is give a name to these open sessions and click Save button

That is it! You can now download the app and log in to another browser or Android app and open all tabs in new windows. You can choose to open the tabs in the same window from the TabCloud settings. The app for Android can be used to access these sessions on any installed browser. If your sessions are not saved in the new browser, you may need to log in to the websites. But if you are on your personal device, this won’t be a problem.

Cool Tip See how to always open links in Chrome’s incognito mode and Firefox’s private window on your Android.

Conclusion

So that’s How to use TabCloud to easily sync your tabs across devices. There is no limit to the number of sessions you can save with TabCloud, at least not that I know. But don’t forget to delete the sessions after successfully opening them on another device.
