The Anker Soundcore Spirit Dot 2 is a cinch to use. When you first remove the earbuds from the case, they automatically enter pairing mode, removing some of the guesswork from the initial setup process. When paired, the Anker Soundcore Spirit Dot 2 will reconnect to the last device you removed from the case. It also consistently disconnects from your device when you put the earbuds back in the case, which not all earbuds do. The charging case is a small plastic pill that fits nicely in my pocket, and I haven’t had any issues with the earbuds falling during my testing. Magnets hold each earbud securely in place when you put them back in the case. The charging case’s lid is probably my favorite part of the case. The lid slides back to reveal the earbuds, which is very satisfying. Three small LED lights on the front of the case indicate the charging case’s battery level. The case can be charged via the USB-C input on the back. Touch-sensitive controls on each earbud work fine in my experience, but they aren’t intuitive. There is no way to return to a previous track, and the headset lacks volume controls, so you’ll have to reach for your phone to perform those two functions. Everything else works perfectly except for those two controls. The right earbud can be double-tapped to pause or play music, while the left earbud can be double-tapped to skip to the next track. You can also activate your phone’s voice assistant by simultaneously pressing the left and right earbuds. You can manually turn off or on the earbuds by holding your fingers on both earbuds for eight or two seconds, respectively.
