The scroll wheel is the most standout feature of the Basilisk V3, but there’s plenty else to like, from the textured grips to the excellent in-game performance. Like its predecessors, the Razer Basilisk V3 is an ergonomic right-handed mouse with an all-black body, textured grips, and three protruding thumb buttons. One of these buttons is arguably the Basilisk V3’s biggest shortcoming. Previous Basilisk models had a small clutch or “paddle” located below the two main thumb buttons. It was very easy to reach, but also very easy to remove if you didn’t want a third thumb key. The Basilisk V3 forgoes the paddle in favor of a non-removable, square “sniper button” that reduces DPI when you hold it down and slows mouse movement for sensitive in-game tasks. The sniper button works well, but the paddle was a more innovative solution since many other gaming mice have sniper buttons. Also, the ability to remove the paddle satisfied almost everyone. Otherwise, the design of the Basilisk V3 hasn’t changed much since the last model. It still feels great in the hand, especially thanks to the textured thumb rest and the textured grip for the two outermost fingers. Measuring 5.1 x 2.4 x 1.7 inches, it fits both large and small hands, and at 3.6 ounces, it’s neither too light nor too heavy. Like other Razer mice, the Basilisk V3 features an illuminated scroll wheel and logo on the palm rest. This time, however, there is also an LED underlight strip that offers more than 20 programmable lighting zones. The Razer Basilisk V3 has one feature that no other gaming mouse can boast: an automatically adjustable scroll wheel. While adjustable scroll wheels are present in other gaming mice, the Basilisk V3 goes a step further and lets you adjust the scroll wheel independently.
