Now let’s jump to the tablet mode shortcuts, tips, and tricks
1. Hide the taskbar
Taskbar is an important part of a laptop in normal mode. However, we cannot say the same about Tablet Mode. If you don’t like the presence of the taskbar in tablet mode, you can hide it with the available setting. If you do this, the taskbar will disappear when you enter tablet mode. Go to Settings> System> Tablet mode to turn the setting on or off. Turn on the switch for ‘Automatically hide the taskbar in tablet mode’.
2. Hide app icons only
If the icons on the taskbar are distracting you and not the entire taskbar, Microsoft offers a way to turn them off in tablet mode. To do this, go to Settings> System> Tablet mode. Enable ‘Hide app icons on the taskbar in tablet mode’.
3. Quickly go to the tablet mode settings
Rather than going through Settings> System> Tablet Mode to access the Tablet Mode settings, you can enter them directly through the Action Center. To do this, first open the Action Center and then press and hold the Tablet Mode option. Select Go to Settings from the menu.
4. Use Back Button
If you look closely next to the Start menu, you will find a back button in tablet mode. Tapping it will take you back to the previously opened apps. In others words, use the button to go back to previous apps. For example, if you open Chrome and then launch Candy Crush followed by File Explorer, tap the back button takes you back to Candy Crush first and then Chrome. Note: The button does not act as a back button for or in apps. That is to say, it is only used to switch to previous apps.
5. Open the right-click menu
The charm of using one laptop is in the right-click menu. Switching to tablet mode on Windows doesn’t mean you lose it. Just tap and hold the item (icon, desktop, taskbar, files, etc.) with one finger to open the context menu or right-click menu. To our delight, the menu has been adapted for use with touch.
6. Open the touch keyboard automatically when not in tablet mode
Usually when you receive your laptop in a tablet mode, the touch or software keyboard appears automatically by tapping a text field. However, if you have your laptop if tablet but not in tablet mode, the keyboard will not appear. To open it automatically even in normal mode, go to Settings> Devices> Typing. Scroll down and turn on ‘Show the touch keyboard when not in tablet mode and no keyboard connected’ under Touch keyboard. 7. Launch Touch Keyboard from the taskbar
If the touch keyboard doesn’t open when you tap a text field, you can also open it from the taskbar. Right-click on the taskbar (touch and hold) and turn on Show touch keyboard button from the menu. Once enabled, you will see the touch keyboard icon in the taskbar. Tap or click to start it.

For example, you want to watch a live stream on YouTube and scroll through your tweets at the same time without any other distraction. That’s where window clicking comes into the picture. To do that, tap and hold the top of the first app and drag it to the top right corner or the top left corner of the screen. You will see that the window has clicked and you must now choose the second app from the list of open apps. Tap the app you want to open.
