Guide: How to Unfollow Twitter Users in Bulk

Well, Twitter doesn’t impose a fee on the number of users you follow, but seriously, does it make sense to follow an inactive user whose account has been inactive for ages? They only increase the list of people you follow and in some cases reduce the authority of your Twitter profile. Unfortunately, Twitter does not offer direct feature to accomplish the task, and so we will have to rely on a third party application to get it done. Currently, there are many online tools that claim to stop tracking inactive Twitter users, but ManageFilter, among others, with its simple interface and easy access, topped my list. ManageFilter makes cleaning inactive Twitter users a breeze. To get started, go to ManageFilter home page and click on the Start button in the center of the screen. You will be asked to verify your Twitter account that you want to clean. ManageFilter will not ask for your Twitter password directly, but will ask you to verify access directly from your Twitter account. Once you give ManageFilter access through your Twitter account, it analyzes all the users you’ve followed and those who follow you on Twitter to give you detailed insight in no time. The tool then groups all your Twitter contacts into different filters such as the ones that don’t follow you, the ones that are inactive, rarely tweets and so on. You can click the groups on the right to see the aggregated data. Now suppose you want to stop following the users who were inactive for the past weeks. Simply click on the inactive links on the left to display all users in the category. You can now select the users you want to unfollow and click Do Not Follow Selected button

To select multiple users at once, click the Rapid adaptation link to unfold the frame. The frame contains a small thumbnail of the profile pictures of the users in the list. You can click on the photos to select or deselect them. Dragging the mouse pointer over the thumbnail images will also do the necessary. Any changes will be immediately reflected in your Twitter account, making it more organized as before.

This was only the free side of the tool, if you want a little extra features like tracking, wish list and some extra filters to filter the contacts, you can always opt for the premium version. So, did you like the ManageFilter? If you know of another great tool that makes it much easier, we would love to hear about it in the comments section.
