How to Remap Keyboard in Windows 10, 8, 7, and Vista PC – Guide
Just look at your keyboard and you can understand exactly what I’m talking about. It has almost 100 to 110 keys and there are even some keys that we hardly ever use for our daily needs. Some of them are Insert, Page Up, Page Down, Scroll Lock keys, which are not used significantly these days. There are even some key pairs that aren’t that useful these days. But unfortunately, we can’t drag those keys and throw them off our keyboard! Well, we can do that, but the keyboard won’t look pretty with a few keys, not in place. Download and install ‘SharpKeys’ on your Windows computer. Here is the link to download it. Installation is simple and doesn’t come with bonus malware or other unnecessary programs. Make sure you have the .NET Framework 4.0 installed before proceeding with the installation.

When the installation is complete, open the program on the desktop or by looking for it in the Start menu.
Add new keymapping in Sharpkeys
Now, you will see a list of all keys in two sections within the window. On the left side, just choose the key that will be mapped to a different key. So here you will have to select the key, which is useless. You can even click ‘Type Key’ to enter the key if you don’t find it in the list. After that click ‘OK’.
Change the functions of keys on the Windows keyboard
Now choose the target key or action for the selected key on the right side of the window. If you want to choose a key, you can find it in the list, or you can even click ‘Type Key’ to type the key directly and click ‘OK’.
Write to Registry to adjust keyboard key functions
Now repeat the same for all useless keys on your keyboard. After you finish assigning different purposes to all keys, click ‘Write to Registry’. A message will appear, saying that you will have to restart your system or log in again to apply the changes. Just click ‘OK’.
Edit or Delete Mapped Keyboard Keys in SharpKeys
This can be very helpful in getting the best out of your keyboard’s useless keys. You can even map function keys if you like. But all changes are applied system wide, so you can’t use keys for default purposes again. To start using the keys for their usual purposes, you can open SharpKeys, select the key combination and click ‘Delete’ to delete the key combination. You can also click ‘Edit’ to remap or edit the key’s purpose.
