Much has been done on social media using it at exact times of the day to maximize productivity. There are even apps like Timely and Hootsuite (among many) that will do the job of figuring out the optimal time by analyzing your previous 199 tweets. They even post the tweets for you. But I was looking for a more comprehensive solution that would allow me to plan my updates productively on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. I came across Buffer which I chose over Hootsuite to manage my multiple social profiles and manage my messaging schedule. Both Buffer and Hootsuite have free and commercial plans. While the free plans are limited, they are enough to handle a normal series of messages. The free plan includes 10 posts per day, with 1 Twitter, 1 Facebook, and 1 LinkedIn account. Buffer has browser add-ons for Firefox, Chrome and Safari. With the help of these add-ons and extensions, you can share any web page without logging into a separate client. All you need to do is click on the buffer button when you are on a web page that you want to share.
A Buffer dialog box appears up as above with the page link. You can add your own message, comment, photo or selected text from the web page. This message can be posted immediately or stored in Buffer until the next scheduled posting time.
Adjust your schedule times for bookings
Buffer gives you four default timing patterns based on four commonly used times of the day. As you can see from the screen above, you can change them and set your own patterns by clicking New Buffer Pattern. Schedules can be configured for each day or for different days of the week with different times. You can also create a buffering pattern that will make it work less on certain days. For example – on the weekend. So, in case you don’t send messages immediately, you can queue (buffer) ten messages at a time each day and send them according to the preset schedule.
Manage your buffer
The Dashboard is where it all happens. You can view your full list of messages in the queue here. Edit or delete them as needed. You can also reorder or post them directly. There is also an analytics section that gives you an overview of your tweeting and message activity through Buffer.

Apart from the browser button, Buffer also introduces a low-profile apps and extension for a variety of apps (23 at last count).
