Is there a catch
When using this method, the other person wouldn’t know that you made the story just for them, as it happens in method two below. However, as you must have noted, the method is tiring as you have to manually select all of your followers. If you have a public profile, your non-followers will still have access to your story. That’s because you only hid your story from your followers. If that’s a problem, make your profile private. To do that, go to Instagram Settings> Privacy> Account Privacy. Enable private account. Do others know when you hide your story?
No. Your followers will not be notified when you hide your story from them.
Method 2: Using a list of close friends
Another way to hide your story from everyone but one is to use a good friends list. The Close Friends list, introduced last year, is a special category of your followers who have exclusive access to your stories. If you add a story to your close friends list, only the people added to that list can view the story. Others do not have access to such stories. So, in this case, you need to add that one person to your close friends list. And then add the story only for your close friends list. By doing this, the story is only visible to that specific person. Here are the steps in detail. Step 1: On the Instagram app profile screen, tap the three-bar icon at the top. Select Close Friends.
Step 2: Use the search to find the person you want to add to your list. Remove others from the list in case you don’t want them to see your story. Then tap Done.
Step 3: Go to it home screen of the Instagram app and tap it camera icon at the top or tap Your Story.
Step 4: Take a new photo or select one from the gallery. You can change them as you wish. Then tap Close Friends button At the bottom. The story is only visible to the selected person. What is the warning
While this process may seem effortless, there is a catch. The stories added in the close friends list have a green circle around them instead of the usual pinkish red. So that the other person knows you added them to this list.
If the person is already in your close friends list, this is the best way as you just need to remove others from this list.
Bonus: How to Hide story from someone who doesn’t follow you
As mentioned before, if you have a public profile, your story will be visible to people who don’t follow you. Follow these steps to hide it from a specific non-follower: Step 1: In the Instagram app, open the profile you want to hide your story from. Step 2: Tap the three dots icon in the top right corner.
Step 3: Select Hide your story from the menu. Confirm by tapping Hide in the popupup menu that appears.
