Microsoft recently updated Edge Chromium with a number of new features, including a new security tool called “Password Monitor” that offers on-demand scanning to detect compromised passwords. Microsoft Edge is getting a new security feature called “Password Monitor”, and as the name suggests, it is a feature which notifies you that one of the passwords you are using has been found in an online data breach. If the browser detects that a password is in the compromised password database, it will advise you to replace it with another one. The new feature may look familiar as Google already has a “Password Leak Detection” feature which offers the same functionality, but a feature is now part of the Chromium version of Microsoft Edge. Password Monitor is currently under development, but you can manually enable it using the browser’s beta version. As the name suggests, the new feature allows users to monitor their passwords and notify them when it is determined that one of them has been compromised. It also supports notifying users in such cases. So if you have an account on a website that appears to have been breached, the feature will notify the user so that necessary measures can be taken to protect the account.
