Prior to iOS 13 and iPadOS 13, the “sharing” sheet on iPhone and iPad hasn’t changed much in recent years. It’s the main way to share things from iOS (and now iPadOS) Twitter, Facebook, Messages and other apps. You can also perform certain actions like copying links, running shortcuts and more. All of this is still the case with iOS 13 and iPadOS 13, but things have changed a bit. Previously, the share sheet was divided into three restricted sections: AirDrop, activities to share with or to apps, and activities specific to the app you are sharing from, such as options to bookmark a page in Safari or share an app URL in App Store. The list of actions that can interact with the app has expanded significantly and the layout has also changed a lot. The share sheet still works as before, it has just been expanded. At the top of the sheet, you’ll always see exactly what you’re sharing. Depending on the app, you will see an “Options” button which lets you choose how you want to send your item (in Safari, for example, you can send a web page as a PDF or a web file). Below that bar, you will now see contact-based sharing options that allow you to share your object with a specific contact in a system-defined application based on your previous contact activity with that person. AirDrop operations are also automatically displayed here when someone with an operating device is within range.
