Hide on Facebook with the Android app
Android has a pretty detailed Facebook app, and there are more features what stands out in that. To take control of your online presence on the Android app, you must turn off Chat featureFollow these steps to do it. Step 1: Open the Facebook app on your phone and tap the menu icon in the top right corner, it is indicated by the three lines or the hamburger symbol.
Step 2: On the next screen, scroll down and find the App Settings tab and tap it.
Step 3: On the Settings page, scroll down to find the Facebook Chat switch. By default, the switch is in the On position.
Step 4: To hide on Facebook with the Android app, tap the switch to turn it off.
Hide on Facebook with the iOS app
As I said before, both Android and iOS apps have similar features, but the way you access it is determined features on them is different. Hence, if you want to hide on Facebook with iOS app, follow these steps. Step 1: Open the Facebook app on your phone and tap the menu icon in the lower right corner. On the next screen, scroll down and find the Settings tab and tap on it.
Step 2: From the pop-up, find the Account Settings tab and tap it.
Step 3: On the next screen, you will see all the settings related to your Facebook account. Find the Chat Settings tab and tap it.
Step 4: Now you will see the Chat switch, turn it off and you will no longer appear online while browsing Facebook through this app. Note: These settings are app and device specific. If you have the Facebook app installed on multiple devices, you will need to disable chat on each device individually.
Hide on Facebook with the Messenger app
Last but not least, we have the Messenger app. This too can let your Facebook contacts know when you are online. To become completely invisible on Facebook, you also have to go offline on Facebook Messenger and this is how to do it. Step 1: Open the Facebook Messenger app on your phone and tap the menu icon in the top right corner of the screen. The icon should be your Facebook profile picture. Tap it to continue.
Step 2: Now you should see your Messenger profile. There, find the Availability tab and tap it.
Step 3: The next screen should show you the Availability on buttonBy default, Facebook Messenger always shows you online when you use it.
Step 4: Turn off Messenger to become invisible. Now you should appear offline to your contacts on Facebook. However, you can continue to talk in existing conversations as before.
Don’t forget to turn it back on
While browsing Facebook without being seen is a real bliss, it should be used occasionally. Well that’s how I use it personally.
