Guide: How to Batch Render Videos in Sony Vegas Pro

Recently, Guiding Tech started a YouTube channel where we share great videos related to everyday technology. I’ve been interested in creating and editing videos since graduation, but it’s not a full-time job for me. While I enjoy editing videos and creating something from scratch, I don’t like the computer taking the time to create them. Batch render video to increase productivity | Shutterstock If you have an average PC and are rendering a Full HD 1080P video, it may take about 30 minutes for a 10 minute video to show. It gets worse when you apply filters and various effects to your clips. The same video can take up up to an hour to render.

Rendering videos is quite a task

While the computer is displaying these videos, it dedicates most of its resources to the video editing tool. The computer literally becomes a potato and is not good for labor-intensive work. That’s why you must have heard that people watch their videos at night and make the most of their productive time. One problem with nighttime video rendering is that you can only render one video. During the 6 hours of your sleep time, the computer is left idle for 5 hours, which could have been used productively. You could think of starting parallel rendering, but it won’t turn out right. Your PC may even overheat and shut down automatically.

Batch display in Sony Vegas Pro

Batch rendering is what one should use in such scenarios. This mode renders videos one after the other and thus utilizes all the time and also gives maximum output. While different editing tools have their own batch display options, these options are not completely transparent in Sony Vegas Pro. So I’ll show you how to use the batch option to save time and increase productivity. Step 1: All clips must be in one Sony Vegas file, and if you have them in multiple project files, you must copy and paste them into the same timeline. Make sure there is a gap between the two or more regions from which different videos will be taken.

Step 2: Drag the time slider from the beginning to the end of a video, then press the letter R on the keyboard. This will highlight the specific area and you will be prompted to name the region. So every clip you want to make a video of must have a separate region.

Step 3: After doing that, click on Tools and navigate to Scripting. Here click on Batch Render and a window will open up

Step 4: In the viewing window, select the location where you want to save the rendered videos and then select the encoding type. Finally, select the Render Selection option and click OK.

Cool Tip You can display the same video in more than one format by selecting multiple encoding types here.

Conclusion

That’s it, the videos will be displayed and you can do this in the evening before you finish up for the day. All your videos are waiting for you the next day. I also use this tip to make multiple lower thirds for my videos and it really saves a lot of time. When in doubt, please take it up in our discussion forum.
