FYI: Synaptics is one of the largest touchpad manufacturers. The touchpad will run out of the box when buying a new laptop with Synaptic TouchPad. However, it will be missing features such as single-finger scrolling and other gestures. To take full advantage of his features, you must visit the Synaptics control panel and adjust the settings as desired. Are you also facing any of these problems? Do not you worry. Here we will tell you a few solutions that will help you to get back the missing Synaptics TouchPad settings. Let’s start.

Open Device Manager

There are several ways to access Device Manager on your laptops. The search feature from Cortana to find Device Manager. You can also press Windows key + X and select Device Manager from the menu.

To do this, go to Settings of your PC followed by Update and security. Here, click on Check for updates. It will be downloaded and installed automatically if an update for Synaptics is available.

4. Rollback driver

Sometimes the problem is due to a bug in the updated version of the driver itself. So if no update is available then try rolling back the driver to the previous version. There are two ways to reverse it.

Method 1: Using Rollback Option

To do this, first start Device Manager. Then right-click on the Synaptics driver under ‘Mice and other pointing devices’ and go to Properties.

On the window that pops up up, go to the Driver tab and select Roll Back Driver.

You will be asked to restart your PC. After restarting, go to Control Panel> Mouse. Hopefully, the Synaptics TouchPad or ClickPad settings are now available.

Method 2: Manually select the previous version

The above method will automatically revert to one of the previous versions. Follow these steps to manually select the version: Step 1: Go to Device Manager> Mice and Other Pointing Devices. Right-click on the Synaptics option and go to Properties.

Step 6: Now select a version smaller than the one you noted above. In my case it is version 19.5.10.69. Click Next and you will be prompted to restart the PC.

After signing in again, open Control Panel and go to Mouse Settings. The Synaptics tab will be happy to be there. Click on it to change the TouchPad / ClickPad settings and enable scrolling.

5. Download the Synaptics app

If none of the above-mentioned methods bring back the Synaptics tab, install the Synaptics app from the Microsoft Store. Once installed, launch it and you can change the settings.

Bonus Tip: Show the touchpad icon in the taskbar

To quickly access the TouchPad settings, you can place the shortcut icon in the taskbar. To do this, go to Control Panel> Mouse. Go to the last tab i.e. TouchPad or ClickPad. Here, enable the static or dynamic system tray icon present below the system tray icon and click OK to apply the changes.

Do not touch me
