1. Remove accessories

Shut down your computer and remove all accessories including mouse and CD or disk and try again. Press and hold the power button button for a few seconds to force shutdown.
2. Safe mode
Can you boot your computer in safe mode? There are a few ways to boot your PC in Safe Mode. The easiest way is to hold down the flow button for a few seconds while the computer boots up upThat will interrupt the boot process and shut down the computer. Do it three times. Press power button > Press and hold the on / off button button to a stop – Repeat three times.

You now press the relevant key (4, 5, or 6) to boot the computer in Safe Mode with Command Prompt. Alternatively, you can press the F8 or F12 key during the boot process, but that won’t work for everyone anymore laptopsEspecially if it contains SSD and uses UEFI BIOS. Once you get into safe mode, check the following: Restart your computer as you normally do from the Start menu to check if the computer still hangs on the blinking cursor screen.
3. BIOS settings
You follow the same steps above by repeating the force button trick three times, but instead of entering Safe Mode, go to UEFI Firmware Settings. That is the latest version of BIOS. Troubleshooting> Advanced Options> UEFI Firmware Settings
Click on the next screen to boot into BIOS. You cannot use a mouse, so only a keyboard is allowed. Use the arrow and the Enter or Esc key to navigate. You will find instructions at the bottom of the screen, but it is quite simple so don’t worry. You need to change the boot settings from Legacy to UEFI mode under Boot Options. Also check the boot order under the boot menu and make sure it is set to boot first from the hard drive and then from the pendrive or other external drives. That will keep the problem from reoccurring if you ever plug in a pen drive during the boot process. Save and exit to reboot and check if the error persists. Note: Every BIOS layout or user interface is a little different, but the basic functionality remains the same. Just find the options above and make the necessary changes. And don’t forget to save the changes before quitting.
4. Command Prompt
Open the command prompt (in safe mode) and follow the steps below only if you have Windows Setup Media such as a CD or pen drive. Give the commands below one by one. sfc / scannow Bootrec / FixMbr Bootrec / FixBoot Bootrec / RebuildBcd The last three commands fix Master Boot Record (MBR), Boot Sector and BCD Store respectively.
5. Repair or reinstall
If you’ve made it this far without success, you’ve exhausted all other options. If you have a back-up of your data or uses cloud storage for everything, don’t be afraid of anything. Restoring your computer will not delete your personal files anyway. That’s what reinstalling the operating system does. That’s why I recommend that you restore the computer first and see if that helps. It helps 9 times out of 10.
If the above method doesn’t work for you, use the installation media disc you may have created on a CD or pen drive. Check Microsoft’s site at how to create an installation media. You can also visit your nearest support center.
Always have a backupup
Here are two pieces of advice that can save you a lot of trouble in the future and they are both very simple. One of them is to make backups. Even better if you move to the cloud, because that way you don’t have to do it manually. The second is to create a restore point every time you are about to make major changes to your system.
