Turn on Save password

Using Chrome on the desktop
Before we start: On the desktop version, Chrome should display a key-shaped icon in the URL bar shortly after logging into a site. Using Chrome on Phone
Step 1: Open the Chrome menu and tap Settings. Then tap the option labeled Save Passwords.
Step 2: You should see another option called Save Passwords, but with a toggle next to it. Tap to turn it on.
If you find the Save Passwords option intact, scroll further down the list until you come across the Never Saved section. Select sites you don’t want to exclude (if there are any) and tap the trash can icon.

Delete browsing history
If neither saving passwords nor the exceptions list was the cause of the problem, you can try clearing the Chrome cache. Outdated browsing data can really interfere with basic browser functions – in our case, automatic password saving prompts.
Using Chrome on the desktop
Tip When you log in to a site, you may not see the key-shaped icon in the URL bar if the problem occurs because of outdated browsing data. Using Chrome on Phone
Step 1: On the Chrome settings screen, tap Privacy. Then scroll down and select Clear browsing data.
Step 2: On Android, tap the Advanced tab – the iOS version of Chrome doesn’t have this tab, so you don’t need to do anything. Log out of profile
If clearing your browser cache the trick, the problem may be with your Chrome profile. Apparently logging out and then logging into a site shows the automatic password saver prompt up After that, log back in to your profile and the problem will usually go away for good. And don’t worry. Any passwords you save while logged out will be synced after you log back in. Cool right?
Using Chrome on the desktop
Step 1: Open the Chrome menu, then click Settings. Click on LOG OUT next to your profile name.
Step 2: In the Sign out of Chromeup popup box, check the box next to Also delete your existing data from this device and click Sign OUT. Note: While all existing data associated with your Chrome profile will be deleted, you should get it back as soon as you log in later. Step 3: You are now logged out of your profile. Log into a site and Chrome should ask you to save the password. Click on Save.
Step 4: You should now see another prompt asking you to sign in to Chrome. Do it.
Using Chrome on Phone
Step 1: On the Settings screen, tap your profile picture. On the next screen, tap Sign Out from Chrome.
Step 2: Since you are now logged out of your profile, just log in to a site and you will be asked to save the password.

A few alternatives
Chrome’s built-in password manager isn’t that intuitive. And it’s not very secure – your Google account will be compromised and you will compromise all your passwords. Before we wrap things up, let’s take a look at some standalone password managers you can use for a better password management experience on the desktop, iOS, and Android versions of Chrome.
1. LastPass
LastPass is a phenomenal password manager. While you can pay for certain ‘Premium’ features, the free version is more than adequate. Add the LastPass extension to Chrome or install the LastPass app on your Android or iOS device and you are good to go. And yes, you can easily import existing Chrome passwords and sync them across platforms.
In addition to capturing passwords by default, LastPass allows you to generate strong passwords when you log in up for an account on a website. Better yet, you can choose to create strong but easy to remember passwords without including confusing combinations of characters – very useful if you prefer to enter passwords manually.
LastPass also gives you the option to perform what it calls a ‘security challenge’ to remove bad passwords – usually from imported credentials. It even checks them against a database of known breaches of similar passwords. So it is in your best interest to use this feature ASAP.
When it comes to security, LastPass allows you to opt for multiple protections through apps like Google Authenticator, eliminating the worry of your master password. On Android and iOS devices, you can also rely on fingerprint biometrics to further secure your passwords. 2. Dashlane
Dashlane is another excellent alternative that allows you to easily import existing Chrome passwords and work seamlessly across desktop, Android and iOS. However, it requires a paid upgrade if you want cross-platform sync, but the basic version should be enough if you’re only using Chrome on one device. As with LastPass, Dashlane offers a pretty neat array features such as generating strong passwords instantly and repairing dangerously weak passwords. As for security, you can use two-factor authentication to protect your password vault in case your master password just doesn’t cut it.
