The ear cups have very little padding, just enough to fit comfortably in the ear. The headband, while not cushioned, is well-designed and firm fitting. The MDR-ZX110 also has a thick, sturdy cable that seems to take a lot of strain; past the Y-splitter, the 1.2-meter cable splits into two somewhat flat cables, the lower half of which is not as sturdy. This design and thickness makes the cable somewhat tangle-resistant and extremely resistant to cable noise. Overall, we are pleased with the look and feel of the Sony MDR-ZX110, except for its thinness. Starting with the bass-oriented Somnambulist, the Sony MDR-ZX110 has a meaty sound with a strong bass attack. Bass is occasionally strong, but is kept in check by a non-tightening fit. The sound is tuned to emphasize the low frequencies, resulting in a very warm sound. There is a clear loss of sensitivity toward the upper end of the frequency range, although this is also true of the mid and low frequencies. The sliders and hinges are made of plastic and make a creaking sound. As such, they could break if not used carefully. what we liked about the MDRZX110’s construction is the thick, sturdy, high-quality 3.5mm wire rod. The 3.5mm audio jack is square. I have rarely seen such sturdy wire material in budget headphones. Another nice thing about these budget over-ear headphones from Sony is that they are foldable. Foldable headphones are easy to carry and take up less space. Since the MDRZX110 Over-Ear are budget headphones, Sony has tried to reduce the cost of manufacturing these headphones. This cost reduction also affects comfort. The ear cup padding is not very thick. They feel uncomfortable when worn continuously for hours; after two hours of continuous use, I rest them for a while before putting them back on again. The same goes for the padding on the headband. On the headband, the padding does not go in at all.The Sony MDR ZX110 is lightweight, so wearing it is not a punishment, but with little padding to the ears and no padding to the head, it was not very comfortable for long periods of listening, but 2 hours of continuous use is quite okay.
