Install XKit
To install XKit, you must use Chrome, Firefox or Opera. Then go to the XKit download page and follow the download instructions, which depend on your browser. Either way, XKit should work the same way in all three browsers.
Restart your browser before going back to Tumblr and trying to use XKit. XKit does not always start the first time until you close and then reopen the browser.
Using XKit and adding extensions
When XKit is successfully installed, you will see a new corresponding icon in Tumblr’s navigation. Click on it to open up XKit’s control panel. Four extensions are automatically installed to get a feel for XKit’s potential: XInbox, One-Click Postage, One-Click Reply and Tweaks.
While two of these are self-explanatory, XInbox comes with a number of enhancements to your Tumblr posts, and Tweaks can do everything from slimmed-down block quotes to showing chat messages with the old interface. They are usually for editing Tumblr’s design to your preference. Click on one of the extensions in the sidebar to check or uncheck several features associated with them.
At the bottom you can navigate through XKit. We’ll skip Getting Extensions for a moment. News will keep you informed of any XKit outages or updates. With XCloud you can draw up for a free account that allows you to sync your XKit settings and extensions across multiple browsers should you need to update or reinstall XKit.
