These new Buds are rated for up to 38 hours of battery life at best. Like the OnePlus Buds Pro, the OnePlus Buds Z2 have an in-ear design and use the same 11mm drivers. The Z2 Buds now feature active noise cancellation and pass-through sound, features normally found on higher-priced TWS buds. The body of the Z2 Buds is made entirely of glossy plastic and offers IP55 water resistance while the charging case is IPX4 rated. They are available in obsidian black or pearl white and the CD pattern makes an appearance here as the spiritual successors to the OnePlus Bullets earphones. The OnePlus Buds Z2 promise great sound quality and the triple microphones should make for clear calls. The OnePlus Buds Z2 include three pairs of silicone tips and a short USB-C to USB-A charging cable. There’s also a helpful quick start guide in the package that shows how to pair and reset the Z2 Buds. The design of the OnePlus Buds Z2 is not unlike the OnePlus Bullets. It has the same chunky shape that inexplicably works for some people’s ears, along with the CD pattern synonymous with the older generation Bullets and the previous generation Buds Z. OnePlus has managed to pack more material into these buds while reducing the length of the stems by 15%. Each Bud Z2 measures 33x 22.4 x 21.8 mm while the case measures 73.15 x 36.8 x 29.1 mm. Each button weighs 4.5 grams and the case 40.5 grams. The charging case is just a few millimeters taller and wider than its predecessor, yet still very compact and easy to carry. The case is shaped like a large pill with a flat bottom and is comfortable to hold. There is an LED battery indicator on the front. On the back, there is a pairing button and a USB-C charging port. The hinge is sturdy and solid. The cover doesn’t feel flimsy and doesn’t move when carried around. While everything else is made of glossy plastic, it is inside the lid that some of the trim is decorated with a matte finish. The OnePlus Buds Z2 come with the Hey Melody app, which is compatible with Android and iOS. If you’re using a OnePlus phone, the integration is built into the OnePlus firmware. There are also a few features that you will only find if you pair the Z2 Buds with a OnePlus smartphone.
