The old Galaxy Buds Pro had a glossy plastic finish. The new Buds 2 Pro have a smooth, all-matte finish that looks and feels more elegant, and the charging case matches. Everything appears to have been streamlined to provide a more premium and slick profile. The earbuds themselves have shrunk by 15%, allowing them to fit even more snugly in your ears without protruding much, if at all. Our pair is securely lodged in the nook of our ears and is difficult to remove. If they don’t fit properly, the buds are so small that getting your fingers around them to place them correctly can be difficult. Our ears did become a little fatigued over time, with the earbuds pressing against our ears noticeably after prolonged use. You get three ear tips in the box, and we recommend running the Earbud Fit Test in Samsung’s Galaxy Wearable app to ensure you’ve got the best seal. The app will notify you if you have the best option or if you should try another ear tip. Using touch sensitive taps on the earbuds, you can control music playback, switch noise-cancelling modes, activate Bixby voice assistant, take calls, and do other things. The controls are precise, but they can be a little too sensitive – we accidentally paused our music a few times when brushing against the buds. To counteract this, you can disable all touch controls completely in the Wearable app. Touch controls can also be turned on and off for each action. A coaxial driver with a 5.3mm tweeter and a 10mm woofer is housed inside each earbud. Inside the case, you’ll notice “Sound by AKG” stamped – the headphone brand’s expertise is used with the earbuds’ drivers and sound, and Samsung says it maintains a good working relationship with the brand.
