The Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 ships with Android 11 and Samsung’s OneUI interface. In fact, the software is one of the highlights of this tablet. Not because of Android itself, but because Samsung is usually much better than most brands when it comes to updates. The Galaxy Tab A series usually gets two or three major Android updates, while other cheap tablets often don’t get any at all.The Samsung Galaxy Tab A8’s display, because that’s one of the most important aspects of a tablet. And unfortunately, Samsung takes a small step backwards this year compared to the predecessor. At 10.5 inches, the Galaxy Tab A8 is a smidge larger than the Tab A7. It has a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels, so everything looks sharp enough. The viewing angles, contrast and colors are also okay. Nothing special, but as you would expect from a tablet in the lower price range. Compared to the Galaxy Tab A7, the Galaxy Tab A8’s screen is a bit darker. Not much, but it is clearly visible in a direct comparison. On a positive note, the A8 has a better white. The display is fully laminated and has a widevine level of L1. This means that you can watch Netflix and other streaming services with HD resolution. Sounds normal, but it is not. On the sides, the Galaxy Tab A8 has a total of four speakers and you can hear real stereo separation. For its price, the speakers are very good and better than many other tablets at similar prices. They are quite loud. However, they are of course much worse than on an iPad Pro or Galaxy Tab S7. Especially when you turn the volume up all the way, the sound can be a bit scratchy and the bass is weak. But again, very good for its price.
